's activity report 2022

AS Stokker is a company with a mission to ensure the availability of a wide range of high-quality tools and accessories, top-notch service, and competent advice to consumers in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland. The company's network, consisting of 31 centers, covers the entire Baltic region, bringing the goods and services offered by us closer to the customer. Stokker's e-service complements the network of physical centers, providing customers with a self-service option 24/7. We place great importance on the quality of the goods and services offered to customers. We pay attention to improving our processes based on evolving technology and changing customer needs. Stokker's goal is to be the most valued seller of tools and machines in the Baltic region. We are proud that 84% of Stokker's customers rated our customer service as very good in 2022.

In terms of revenues, costs, and profits, the instability related to the Covid-19 pandemic at the beginning of 2022 was replaced by uncertainty caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war that began in February. From February, both energy and raw material prices rose sharply, and delivery times for orders became unpredictable once again. Uncertainty and rapid price increases led to an increase in customer interest in increasing their stocks. Thanks to large warehouse stocks and the quick action of the purchasing team, we were able to respond to increased demand in most product groups. Unfortunately, there were also suppliers whose delivery times stretched to over a year. Overall, the year was successful for the Stokker group. Consolidated net turnover grew by 21% in 2022 compared to the previous year. The group's turnover of 196 million euros in 2022 is a record. The growth in business volumes was broad-based, covering all countries and most product areas.

The year also brought significant growth in operating costs. The most significant growth came from labor costs and increased fuel, heating, and electricity costs. Thanks to good sales results, the company was able to increase profits. The consolidated net profit of the Stokker Group amounted to 8.2 million euros in 2022, which is 24% more than in the previous year.

The economic environment had a significant impact. The rapid growth of the economy was replaced by a slight decline at the end of 2022. However, the situation in different customer segments was very different, and there were both winners and losers in the changed situation. In most sectors, our customers were able to pass on the price increase of input at the beginning of the year to their customers. The situation became more complicated in the second half of the year when the decline hit the Scandinavian real estate market and through it many exporters in this region. In addition, rising interest rates and negative future forecasts cooled the market. Some relief for companies came at the end of the year when energy prices started to fall.

In conclusion, the economic environment in 2022 was challenging for the economies of the Baltic States and Finland. According to Eurostat, economic growth in 2022 was -1.3% in Estonia, 2.0% in Latvia, 1.9% in Lithuania, and 2.1% in Finland. The most significant contribution to the improvement of sales and profit numbers was high inflation, which reached 19.4% in Estonia.

The economy of this region is cooling down. Although suppliers' delivery problems are starting to be solved and price increases are slowing down, there is also a decrease in demand in most market segments. Rising interest rates and negative future prospects do not support customers' investment courage. The risk of changes in exchange rates and interest rates is a concern. Transactions with most suppliers are in euros. A small part of the purchase transactions with Asian suppliers takes place in US dollars. All sales transactions are in euros. In 2022, due to the appreciation of the US dollar, larger than expected exchange rate losses had to be accepted. Overall, the currency risk has increased somewhat, but it does not have a significant impact on our economic activity. All company loans are in euros. The interest rate of the company's long and short-term loans is linked to Euribor. The rising Euribor rate leads to a significant increase in interest expenses.

In terms of investments, Stokker invested 4.7 million euros in updating its technical base during the year. In the spring, we completed the renovation work of Kuressaare Stokker and refreshed the interior of the centers in Tallinn Peterburi tee and Tartu. Work is underway to replace the entire group's software platform, which is planned to be completed by the end of 2023. In 2022, we made investments related to the aforementioned project in the amount of 0.5 million euros.
