Part of Vilmix (previously known as Nordic Yeast Estonia OÜ) was established in 1994. In May 2008, the business name was changed in connection with the acquisition of one branch of AS Vilmix - wholesale of raw materials - and the company's business name "Vilmix".

OÜ Vilmix is 100% owned by the Swedish company KåKå AB, which as of 31.12.2022 is owned by the Norwegian stock company Orkla ASA.
