The foundation began its activities on April 1, 2003 as the successor of the state-owned company Jõgeva Hospital.

The Social Ministry exercises the founder's rights over the Jõgeva Hospital Foundation. The Jõgeva Hospital Foundation is part of

the Social Ministry's consolidation group.

The Jõgeva Hospital Foundation is a healthcare institution where outpatient and inpatient healthcare services are provided mainly to the residents of Jõgeva County. The treatment financing contract is with the Estonian Health Insurance Fund.

The Estonian Health Insurance Fund or local governments pay for the services provided to uninsured persons. The hospital provides general care service, which is financed by clients, their relatives or municipalities.

Rehabilitation services were provided on the basis of a referral letter from the Social Insurance Board. The partner for providing work-related rehabilitation services is the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund. The Jõgeva Hospital Foundation also provides paid healthcare services to those interested.

The hospital's goal is to continue providing high-quality specialist medical care, nursing care, general care and rehabilitation services. The hospital provided outpatient and inpatient specialist medical services in accordance with the requirements and competence arising from the type of hospital (local hospital).

The hospital has the functional-diagnostic and laboratory equipment necessary for providing specialist medical care, the diagnostic possibilities of which are actively used by family doctors in Jõgeva city and county. The hospital provides home nursing service

to the residents of Põltsamaa and Jõgeva region.

In 2022, the renovation of the Jõgeva Hospital Foundation's electrical systems continued and a tank was purchased for storing fuel for the diesel generator to ensure its operation.

New hematology analyzer and anesthesia monitor with gas module were purchased from medical technology.

In 2022, the hospital continued to place great emphasis on updating information technology systems and ensuring cybersecurity, the hospital's internal network was renovated.
