Tegevusaruanne 2022
The British-Estonian Chamber of Commerce (BECC) was incorporated in 1997. It is an active membership-based non-profit organization whose main goal is to improve relationships between the business communities of the UK, Estonia and other countries in order to provide mutual support opportunities and boost business activity.
In 2022, the BECC implemented a new approach to the management function by dividing these roles and responsibilities among a team of 5 thus making the chamber less vulnerable to changes in personnel. Management roles are Operations, Events, Membership, Media, Finance. We also have a PT Intern. 3 of these positions are remunerated (Events, Membership, Media). This new structure and regular management meetings have enabled the BECC to plan more efficiently and to engage with members more regularly. Consequently, I am confident that BECC activity and membership recruitment will continue to improve and grow.
BECC members represent a variety of fields of activity and have specific expertise in their respective fields. At the turn of the year 2022/23, there were 51 members of the BECC which represents a growth of 20% YoY. The BECC encourages member companies to cooperate and works in the interests of its members first and foremost. We provide opportunities for our members to find potential clients, investors and business partners in Estonia and the United Kingdom. We organize, in partnership with our members and partners, relevant events and seminars and B-B meetings - which provide members with the opportunity to expand their social and business networks, provide informed business information, and provide platforms to discuss important topics.
An important objective has been to pay attention to issues of social importance through our involvement with the lobby group, the Foreign
Investors Council of Estonia and British Chambers of Commerce Global Network and by raising funds for its charity partners. BECC supports
Estonian charities through the organization of charity fundraising events. Currently, our charity partners are the NGO Women’s Support and
Information Center, Janno Pussepa Fond and the Estonian Mental Health Youth Movement.
In the 2022 financial year, the BECC kept operational costs to a minimum and finances remained stable despite the pandemic.
